This is a variety of round rice that is highly absorbent (up to 5 parts liquid to 1 part rice) that does not overcook and preserves its texture and flavor even when reheated. It is the best rice for paella and risotto.
When cooked it may double in length and thickness. If it is cooked longer than the recommended time the grains swell up and do not split open (hence its name in Spanish).
Bomba rice (Oryza sativa L) is approximately twice the price of standard rice because it requires very careful cultivation and plant productivity is very low.

Cooking time: 18-20 min.
